Haskell Jr High Parent information update (7/16/2020)

As of today, Haskell Jr High is planning on starting school on August 20th which is what our last adopted calendar states.  All plans are tentative and could easily change depending on State, TEA, UIL and local regulations.  Parents will have the option of students coming to school or staying at home to do Remote online learning.

‘On Campus’ Face to Face Learning:

>>Social distancing on campus as much as possible

>>Face masks required for all staff and students

>>Daily/weekly screening procedures such as temperature and symptom checks

>>Immediate child pick-up if child becomes sick or show symptoms

>>Able to participate in all UIL activities outside of school within the regulations of UIL at that time

>>Added lunch times and locations to accommodate social distancing

>>Possible adjustments in bus travel to accommodate social distancing

>>Handwashing Techniques taught/Hand Sanitizing Station throughout the building

Remote On-Line Learning:

>>Will be very different and more rigorous than the distant learning in April and May of 2020.

>>Daily progress/attendance will be monitored through ‘Google Meet’ (Same as Zoom) check-ins with teachers, progress in software and daily assessments.

>>Daily Attendance will be taken, students will not be able to work ahead or make up work from previous days and be counted present for that day.  TEA is making it very clear that students must be engaged every single school day and showing that engagement in order to be counted in attendance.

>>Will not be able to participate in extracurricular school competitions/events.  Band and PE will still be offered as a class with expectations of daily work and progress

*** Again, these are tentative plans made at this time and are subject to change as our situation changes

God Bless and please stay safe!

K Colley
